Bovine Vaccinations
Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR or Red Nose)
When: annual vaccine (killed or intranasal)
What: contagious virus in cattle that affects the upper airways. The virus in females can also cause inflammation in the vagina and vulva and result in abortion.
Who: cattle of all ages that have not been vaccinated or that have not been previously exposed and successfully treated
Bovine Virus Diarrhea (BVD)
When: annual vaccine
What: virus known for causing damage to the digestive and immune systems, pnuemonia, calf deformities, and abortions
Who: preweaning calves, heifers before breeding, cows and bulls
Bovine Parainfluenza Virus Type 3 (PI3)
When: annual vaccine
What: virus known to cause upper respiratory signs in cattle of all ages, but typically seen in young stressed cattle
Who: preweaning calves, heifers before breeding, cows and bulls
Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV)
When: annual vaccine

What: spirochete known to cause abortion and kidney failure
